This is the upholstered version of the Vitra re-edition of the Eames DSR Chair. With its chromed 'Eiffel Tower' style leg base the DSR is based on the original 1950 fibreglass design of the first industrially manufactured plastic chair.

In 1993 Vitra discontinued production of the DSR for ecological reasons as its original material, fibreglass, cannot be re-cycled. Thanks to advances in technology it is now produced in polypropylene.

The Eames DSR Chair comes available in a range of mid century modern colours reflecting its heritage and the period when it was first launched. In 2010 Vitra introduced this upholstered option which, as well as retaining the outer shell colour, also offers a number of coloured upholstery options in Hopsak (100% polyamide). The DSR remains one of our best selling chairs.
